“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Tim 4:7

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy he is speaking about his ministry journey and the legacy of faith that will be passed on to the next generations. We here at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church are part of that legacy. In 2014 we made great strides in spreading the gospel message to our communities and in our world today. Through the many ministries, programs and worship opportunities we provide, the presence of Christ has been made known. And ministries, programs and worship happen because of one thing…God’s people!
First, let me say thank you to every person who has walked through the doors of Gloria Dei, we are only the body of Christ together. Pastor Molly has been a blessed partner in ministry and in life. Tammie Sills is a welcome edition to our amazing staff as we continue to be good stewards of our finances and facility. Our facility is well-cared for by our committed custodial staff. Pastor Paul Chell, Beth Heitz and Gretchen Dickson make sure every member of the community is connected, especially in times of need. Barb Reinke and Chris Potis keep the office running smoothly, offer a warm welcome to all who enter the doors during the week and consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. Justin Snider continues to energetically keep a vibrant youth ministry happening with confirmation, Sunday school, mission trips, and Sr. High youth ministry. Beth Tobin is the cornerstone of our children’s ministries including choirs, musicals, Sunday school and Vacation Bible school. Dan Colgan and Kim Tovani are a core component of worship, as their ministry of music deepens the gospel experience and invites others to express their faith through music. Erin Holmquist directs a top-notch preschool as a ministry of Gloria Dei teaching kids about life, learning and God’s love. Our dedicated preschool staff live out the day to day ministry with our preschoolers. Marci Barton faithfully and joyfully provides safe and loving child care on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings and beyond. This past year we were blessed by the healthy, home-cooking of chef Allison Barker. Special thank you to Allison for the time she has spent with us as kitchen coordinator.
Your Church Council also needs to be recognized for their dedicated volunteer hours and faithful leadership. Thank you to Ken Currens (President), Katie Hurley (Vice President) and Susan Barbeau (Secretary) who work with and help lead the Council. Thank you to Jon Tunheim, Leia Johnson and Dan Vetter who are leaving Council after faithful service; and welcome to Sherrie Smith, David Little, Mavrick Scott and Kelley Mannon who join or have joined Council over the past year.
“We are called by God to share the love of Jesus Christ.” We will continue our work to fulfill this mission as we Gather, Grow and Go together. We will focus on the stewardship of our resources, our finances and the support of our ministries. Together we will fight the good fight, run the race and keep the faith. Together with God we will do our part to forward the legacy that is the love of God in Christ Jesus.
God’s Peace, Pastor Doug
