 “Are We There Yet?”

by Tom Long and Allen Pote

Rebel leader, prophet, lawgiver — Moses is a towering figure in the history of Israel.  In one transcendent moment in the desert, God calls Moses from the life of a shepherd to life of a nation builder, sending him to confront the pharaoh and free God’s people from slavery in Egypt.  And Moses’ first response?  A very human fear of failure.  “Who am I to do this?” He asks.  “I’m slow of speech and I don’t know what to say.  Please, Lord, send someone else.”  Like so many accounts in the Bible, at the heart of a great spiritual event we find some people a lot like ourselves.

The Moses story reminds us that God can use us even when we feel weak.  Like the Israelites wandering in the desert, and as we are coming out of the pandemic, we have all maybe wondered, “Are we there yet?”  Let this musical filled with humor, song, and humanity encourage you and encourage us as a congregation as we continue to grow our strong roots of faith moving forward in the light of God’s love.

The musical is open to all children in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Cast members do not need to be members of Gloria Dei to participate.   Rehearsals begin January 6, 2023.  Registration information, and forms may be found on the Children’s Ministry board or at www.GloriaDeiOlympia.org.  No experience is necessary and all are welcome!  Join the fun!  We’re excited to be back in action!!
